Pre-Visualisation: Diner Updated Storyboards and Beatsheet

After a few group meetings with Alan, we established that our existing script and ideas didn't quite have enough comedy involved and needed development. We went back and forth plenty of times discussing it and finally decided to introduce a secondary senior character to the script for a dynamic 'back and forth' between the two characters. This introduces action and reactions and made the script flow a lot easier.

With the previous version of story, Moom Jnr was simply a clumsy character and this didn't allow for much of his characteristics to come into the storyline. By sitting down together and thinking about what makes our character, we were able to inject a bit more life into the actions of Moom.

During a team meeting we bounced ideas off of each other and finally came up with some basic 'beats' for each scene, which Kim then wrote up into a properly formatted script. We also decided to remove one of the scenes (Video Store), this allowed us a bit of extra timing for each scene and meant there was less work to do going forwards to distribute. With the longer allotted times for each scene, this allowed us to create more of a story.

Below are our collaborated ideas for the Diner scenes, as typed up by Saskya during our meeting.

With our new ideas so late into the project, we decided not to redo the animatic and to push ahead with designs to work on the pre-vis. We did decide that redoing storyboards would be a good idea as this will help us time out each scene into 'beats' and ensure that our ideas are communicating well by breaking it down into snapshots first.

Below is my developed storyboards for the Diner Scene.
